We say farewell to Andrea Bandelli this week after 6 years at the helm of Science Gallery International. Andrea is returning to Amsterdam to take up a new post as Head of International Relations at his alma mater, the Vrije Universiteit.

Andrea: “Our work at Science Gallery is ultimately about giving people agency, inspiration and knowledge to take action and contribute to making a better world; I definitely count myself as someone who’s been impacted by Science Gallery in a life-changing way. Now I’ll go and put the learnings of this experience into practice, forever grateful for the unique opportunity Science Gallery International gave me. And I’ll keep visiting the many galleries around the world!”

Thanking Andrea, Chair of the SGI board Rose Hiscock stated:stated: “Andrea’s leadership has taken SGI through an exceptional period – from the development of the network to a thriving organisation with deep relationships and a complex and diverse set of galleries and operating models. He has fostered a series of exceptional relationships with universities, national institutes, individual directors, Board members and stakeholders and a sophisticated global program of arts/science communication and learning. We are grateful for his work with the SGI Board and network Directors. We thank him for his friendship as well as his guidance as CEO, and wish him the very best for this next phase.”

As of 21st July, Sarah Durcan, SGI’s Associate Director for Operations will act as Executive Director. A recruitment process for a new Executive Director will be announced shortly.
